More About Richard

When Richard JOUSIFF (as per birth record) was born on 7 January 1792, his father, Francis, was 40 and his mother, Harriot, was 27. He married Susan JOHNSON on 15 November 1823 in Bath, Somerset. Father Francis, and sister Agnes signed as witnesses to the marriage. Both signed their names as "Joseph". They had only one child during their marriage. He died on 16 May 1827 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, at the age of 35, and was buried there. His only son by Susan, Charles Richard was only two years old when Richard died. The marriage record of Richard and Susan shows Richard as a widower, but we have no details of his first marriage. The picture, above is if the Imperial Hotel in Cheltham where Richard passed away, and where is likely to have worked as a Hotel-Keeper. He must have known that he was about to die, because he signed his will about a month before his death, leaving all his possessions to his wife. He signs his will in his own hand as "Richard Joseph".
